A specially manufactured fabric panel, one that’s designed to absorb distracting noise, has to carry out that task while it maintains its flattened profile. The selected yarn should resist moisture, maintain material stability in its chosen surroundings, and it shouldn’t contain any substance memory. That latter feature implies an easy to fit construct, a fabric that will bind exactly to the corners and edges of the fabric panel. If the yarn is dense and memory-heavy, it won’t properly conform to the edges of the panel frame.

What are Noise Reduction Coefficients?

The NRC of burlap or some other superior fabric panel assures a first-rate sound absorption rating. The core material deadens the noise while the outer layer of fabric is tightened across the panel frame. A slight airway gap interposes itself between the panel fabric and that dense noise-cancelling core. Constructed in this manner, tested panels receive NRC ratings, with the number hopefully approaching the ideal 1.0 rating. Typically, however, the product NRC hovers around the 0.85 mark. That’s more than enough sound-absorbing potency for most applications.

Neutral tones and colourful patterns adorn the loosely threaded weaves. Air penetrates the fabric, so the noisy vibrations are never far behind. Made from burlap or some other fine acoustic fabric, the acoustically transparent fabric eliminates noise reflectance. Thanks to that key feature, the energetic noise passes effortlessly through the woven yarn, past the air gap, and becomes entangled in that woollen core. Hard echoes and cold reverberations are transformed into warm, rounded tones when this solution is employed.
